What is a Superstar?
Tuesday, July 19 / 0 comment(s)

Weisong Laoshi asked this question so many times last night (haha) Last night's show was in my opinion the best show ever. Of course the dramatic moments were not lacking. The major shocker of the night was seeing Lijun without a shred of confidence left. Her stage presence had always been the strongest, brightest and glamourest of all. In terms of star quality, she definitely had a lot of it. Her confidence, her strut and body language were her strongest assets and last night, she lost it all.

This tells me only one thing. Stage presence, star quality, that "air", these are all not born but made. It comes from the inside. It can be nurtured. Someone who had so much of it demonstrated how, if you crack inside, it shows on the outside. The exact same person can ooze so much confidence yet can also ooze just as much defeat. She was almost hunched back last night. She looked shorter, even though her heels were suicide high. Who'd ever thought that possible.

Winners are made. Winners preservere under the utmost pressure. Winners prevail. Winners have the stamina. You may not be the best. But until you yourself admit defeat, you will never lose. Failure is not losing but giving up is.

There was a judge who said something like "The result is not as important. What is most important is that you fought a beautiful war." Some people might say, only losers say that to console themselves but after last night I saw what that line truly meant. How in many things, it is always how a person carries herself, her mentality and her strength that matters. There in itself is a true winner.
