What is heaven for...

I'm talking to a friend about a few topics in life... this, after i read the blog he introduced to me Wisdom to Create a Beautiful World .

One of the posts there... "The world's greatest lie" really speaks to me. That post hit the nail on the head... exactly my situation.

I quote

"When we are young, we all seem to have clear idea of what we want to be when we grow up. But somewhere along the way, these dreams get buried under the reality of daily living. The focus shifts from 'living the dream' to just 'finding a good job with a stable income'. "Survival first", as they call it. The sad part is that many people spend much of their lives doing what they don't like, so they can finally earn enough to start doing what they do like. I say, that's a great way to bury your happiness and turn into an economic slave. Doing what you dislike, day after day, will numb the sense of joy within you. Soon you will feel that your life has no greater purpose, and there is nothing to look forward to but work, work, work.... You will have forgotten how much fun it is to spend your time doing the things you like to do."

Do I dare dream? Do I dare to risk it all? Is the very existance of my "backup plan" the very thing that is hindering my fulfilling my dream? Deep down inside I probably have all the answers. Do I dare acknowledge the answers honestly?

I'm freaking scared. Scared to fail, then my mum will be the first to say "See you should have gotten that MOE job" Fail and be poor financially. Labelled a failure and a bum.

On the other side of the rainbow, success will be shining bright way beyond my wildest imagination.

My JC principal once said this in a speech she made in the month before our A levels. Kinda like a prep talk. She said this

A man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what is heaven for - Robert Browning
Somehow this quote stuck with me all the way after she said it. Amazing how much one line can express.
